To the last day we spent at RHS, this class made the most of  those years.  We were a great class! Memeories came flooding back when Dana made me promise to come for the reunion.  OK heres a few key words-Dana Sooter- the cabin, the car , RL, the friend! Susan Frintrup-jr high, the truck, the wild times, many years. Margaret Bracy- need I say more! Paul Meek, Mary Eyberg, and Ruth Barefield -I known you forever.  Greg Wade and Alan Kamper-two of the best friends a girl could have.  Lori Moss & Julie Howell- oh boy the wild curises and fun times. I have wonderful memeories and things I will always say I wasn't there or didn't do!! Wink Wink Thanks for the ride of a lifetime!Hello to everyone out there reading this and can't wait to see you in Aug!!!
What have you been up to since high school?:
I atteneted SMS and UMR with all my good buddies.  Moved to Dallas in 1985, became a manager for Kinko's copies.  In 1989 met my husband and married in Aug. 90, I had my first son Eric and in 1992 had my baby Alex. Sadly, a year later I lost my dad to cancer and my mother loved my dad so much she joined him 6 weeks later, thank you to all that sent prayers and their great memeories of my mom. Go Sue!  I have stayed at home with my kids for 10 years, doing small odd jobs during my stay at home.( mostly to stay a real person and keep my sanity).
I have worked at the World Trade Center as a sales rep, been a manager of a large communications group, and substituted for the school district and this is where I found my passion.  Teaching!!  It just took me 20 years to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up!!  I am now getting my teaching certificate!!Yea!! We just moved into my new house and am having a blast fixing it up! My husband is in the computer  world and is the smartest person I know.  We have traveled, Jerry worked for American Airlines.  I have a great life of friends, family and now a 20 year class reunion.  Wow, we did we all get so old!!

What have you been up to since high school?:
went to journalism school at UMC, got my masters in magazine journalism, (married writer Kirk Curnutt, had 1 son Kipley, divorced); met photojournalist Joel Beeson in graduate school, fell deeply, madly in love, we were married in 1993 and have 2 children. Took a job as an art director with Southern Living Magazine in Birmingham,  Alabama.  Worked for 3 years at Southern Living, Decorating Step-by-Step, and other magazines.

While living in the South, We became involved in civil rights work and a documentary book project on a rural community in Mississippi with blues musician/activist Willie King, which has been a big part of our lives since then. We are currently fundraising for a multi-media workshop in this community targeting children at risk for drug and gang involvement to give them access to the internet and to help them learn journalism /multi-media skills to document their own community.

After Birmingham, we moved to San Diego (for husband to get PhD at UCSD). I switched to freelance with Time, Inc. and have continued as a contributing editor on various assignments plus commercial clients. Also, when I moved to San Diego, I started doing art direction and design in fashion (used beautiful, talented Jennifer Hanna as a model, and managed the dubious achievement of dressing celebrities and catching the eye of Elle magazine, Victoria magazine, and Nieman Marcus with beaded vintage-feel gowns and had a fancy little boutique for about 2 years before I threw in the towel because unfortunately celebrities don't pay for dresses...) We’re currently trying to have another baby (last one!), and I’m working on a book, and doing LOTS of parenting in between work and beaded gowns.

Words of  wisdom:
Be informed. Be a critical thinker and get your news from many sources. Find the one person who is your true love, have a dream, make it your life’s work and share that with eachother and the world.  “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it’s the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead

Spending time with friends--gosh it's a wonder we all survived.
What have you been up to since high school?:
Went to work at the Rolla Hospital in 1983, in the emergency room as a secretary.  I liked that so much I became an EMT and worked on an ambulance.  Until a drunk driver decided to be stupid and hit us head on, knocking our ambulance down a steep embankment by Meramec Springs.  (Seatbelts do save lives!!!!)  My last ambulance run was as a patient.  Luckily we all survived.  Couldn't handle the idea of working on the ambulance any more so I became an ER nurse.  Loved working in the ER, but I am currently employed by the Rolla Hospital as a RN/Manager for Home Health.  Some things just never change.  I am very happily single, and enjoy raising my kids in Rolla.

I lost my mom last year.  It's been a really long year.  It made me realize just how old I/we are getting to be.  We are considered middle age now.  Oooohhhh, how scary.  I think we represented our high school years well, and I'm sure we will do the same in adulthood.  Hopefully, I will see most of you in August.  Christy (Crowder) Burke and I are going to make each other go.  Right Christy????

Occupation:
Sr. Computer Technical Consultant
Hobbies/Interests:
One of my most favorite things to do in play the guitar and write music.  I also enjoy singing, playing with other musicians (church band), golf, computers, throwing frisbee and spending time with my family.  I also enjoy small projects around the house and helping friends with computer related questions.
Favorite high school memories:
Latin Club toga party at the chancellor's residence.  Learning French in Ms. Merkel's class.  Learning how to dance in coach Rave's history class.  Asking others in calc class if Mr. Priest ever stops exhaling when he teaches.  Crusing the strip on weekends.  Listening to rock music with Rodney Mickelson.  Giving Donna (Smiley) Mercer a tube of topal in Mr. Harmes class as a gag gift.  Working at the IGA foodliner part time.
What have you been up to since high school?:
I went to UMR and graduated with a BS in Computer Science in Dec of  '86.  During college, I worked at the computer center part time as a student operator.  It was a tough 4.5 years but was well worth it (hard work really does pay off).    Two months later, I moved to University City and went to work for Washington University specializing in User Interface design/development.  Their vacation benefits allowed me to take a european vacation with 2 of my cousins.  I call it "Europe in a blur" because on it I saw 6 countries (England, Belgium, Austria, Germany,  Switzerland, France) in just 12 days, all with no advance hotel reservations and no Eurail pass.   Each new country we'd exhange money and try to find a place to stay.  If I ever go back, it'll be more planned out with fewer stops on the itinerary.

I accepted a position as a systems programmer with Edward Jones in 1988 and have been there ever since.   I love what I do mainly because it gives me the ability to learn new technologies, solve problems and help mentor others in the skills I've acquired.  I am fortunate to be able to work from home 2 days/week.  Ironically, the first boss I had at Jones gave me the nickname 'Bing', not even knowing I could sing and it's stuck with me ever since.

In 1987, I also started attending Grace Church-St Louis where I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and was baptized.  To me this was a life-changing thing because for so many years I thought that knowing who God was was good enough.  I learned that being a Christian meant having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, accepting His free gift of eternal life and sharing His love with others.

In 1991 I met my beautiful wife Caren on a church ski trip (Winter Park) and were married 13 months later.   She quit her fulltime job when our first child was born and now enjoys being a full time mom and homeschooling our 3 kids.

We moved to Bridgeton, MO where we lived for 7 years and eventually were part of the airport buyout.  It was a stressful time not knowing when the buyout would occur (+/- 1 year) and where we would wind up.  As a result, we built a house in Ballwin, MO where we've been for the  last 2 years.

I've spent the last 10+ years volunteering in our childrens's ministry at church either teaching or leading praise/worship for the kids.  Three years ago I sang at the TWA dome during the 'Kidz Gig' as part of the Billy Graham Crusade.  Over the last 2 years I've been a part of a praise and worship band at church playing guitar and leading worship.

I am currently trying to put together a small home recording studio and having fun learning how to play the piano.

Words of  wisdom:
>From my own personal experience....

Happiness isn't found in the things that you have, the places you've seen or lived, or the people you've met, but rather in having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Dreams are often times God's way of revealing the perfect plan he has for your life.  Don't put off the dreams He's planted in your heart.

Don't let a day go by without telling your spouse and kids that you love them.

One of the most rewarding and satisfying things you can do is to spend time helping others.

What have you been up to since high school?:
Moved to Minneapolis in 1984 - at the hieght of the Purple Rain days here - actually saw Prince at First Ave, also the hieght of the Replacements - got to sit on stage with them (too cool).  Met Greg the first month I moved here.  He's the best: part philospher, part musician, part goof ball- been together ever since.  Eventually went back to college - got a BA in Public Admin. Directed a couple of plays locally, wrote a couple of plays (still on the shelf), published a few poems locally, traveled around USA, worked at Minneapolis Community & Technical College for 8 years. Cooked meals for the homeless for 5+ years.  Organize a small mitten & hat drive for homeless children for the past 6 years. Decided to go back to school at University of Lousianna in Urban Studies but Sophia had another plan for me. Instead I became the lucky Mom of Sophia and now David too.  I spend most days trying to see the world through their eyes - it is a much nicer view to be sure!  Subsequently our home is filled with toys, music, books, and color everywhere, oh yeah and Shrek & Scooby Doo.  I am currently researching my maternal grandfather's life as the basis for a book I am writing.

The truth - that love is the ultimate and highest goal to which man can aspire... the meaning of the greatest secret that human poetry and human thought and belief have to impart: The salvation of man is through love and in love. Victor Frankl
