What have you been up to since high school?:
Right after high school I went to work for a bank. I was there for 14 ½ years. At age 32 I began college with 2 kids and a husband. Four years later I graduated, with honors and began teaching. I taught sixth grade at Newburg and am now teaching fourth grade in Rolla. I was able to do quite a bit of traveling through my banking career and learned a lot about dealing with people. I also tried my hand at having my own business with Discovery Toys.
Words of  wisdom:
It is never too late to achieve your dreams. You must have a goal and never stop working towards it.
Anything else significant you would like to share:
I have learned so much since high school – I wish I could have the high school experience again, knowing what I know now.

Hobbies/Interests:
I never seem to have time to do all the things I used to like so much years and years ago but I guess that is partly because I have opened myself up to all sorts of new possibilities.  I love spending time with my boys, they make me laugh all the time.  They think it's so cool when I know all the words to a new song (actually a remake of a 20 year old song-yikes)and they find it truly amazing that I have eyes in the back of my head and ESP. (What helps is just remembering what it is like to be a kid) My newest interest is, of all things, pro wrestling.  They have managed to make me a fan and I just attended my first WWF match in Tampa.  It really was great fun.  I also like to attend the ballet, thanks to Trevor, my dance star, who has appeared in the Sarasota Ballet's Nutcracker for the past 4 years.  Wrestling and ballet... go figure.
Favorite high school memories:
Where do I start?  There are so many and it's funny that a lot of them come from elementary school, junior high, and high school...It's hard to remember sometimes when things happened.  I remember when Jim Kelsey, who lived up the street from me forever and called me Grenade, told me he always thought that was really my name.  I think of Dana Coester and Cam West and Pat Henry (oh, I had the biggest crush) had all that fun we had together running through the streets of Rolla in the rain and going on that canoe trip where I think I spent more time in the water than out - and Pat in case you were wondering....NO!!! I will not get in a canoe with you ever, ever again. I remember all the fun I had in French class with Pat Bain always saying things to make the whole class laugh till we cried.  And my dear friend, Laura VanMatre (Gisele) who made it so much fun to mix English and French.  I think of Margaret Bracy who helped me live on the wild side and I will never forget the night I begged my mom not to tell her dad and just ground me for a whole month.  She didn't tell, but boy was that a long month!  I think of going out on weekends with Donna Mercer and Lois Beard teepeeing Mitch's or Chris' cars...do you think they ever knew it was us?  Remember that party I had at my house the night my mom was out of town...I think I told Claudia Cain at the Rolla Pool to tell a few people to come over.  I still find it amazing the number of people who actually showed up.  Billy and Jamie, you both have always had such a special place in my heart since then...what wonderful friends.
What have you been up to since high school?:
I attended SMS after high school until 1984 when I moved to Florida.  I followed my mother, who remarried, here.  Both of my brothers and my sister are all here, and just this last year my dad finally retired and was able to move here too.  I intended to work for about a year until I got Florida residency and then go back to school. But, life starts happening sometimes and you just have to go with whatever happens.  I started working at a very successful restaurant on Anna Maria Island.  I was a cocktail server and then eventually bartended and became the bar manager.  I met my husband there, got married, left the restaurant and got a real job, bought a house and started having children.  School just didn't happen.  Eventually, I did go back part time and got an AA degree at the community college and although I tried to go to USF right after I got divorced, it was just too much happening all at once and now school is still on hold.  I swear that I will get my degree one of these days.
I was married for twelve years and although I believe that marriage should last forever, I realized that it shouldn't if you are married to the wrong person.  It was such a hard decision to make because of the kids, but I know that it was the right one.  Sometimes looking back I really wish I had done a lot of things differently when I was younger, but I figure that everything just brought me to where I am now in life and that is a very good thing.  I have met the love of my life.
After bartending, I got my real job in a medical office and I stayed in the medical field until about 4 years ago when I became the Practice Administrator for an oral surgeon.  She has a million dollar practice in a small town just south of Sarasota and I couldn't be happier helping the practice grow.

Words of  wisdom:
Sometimes you have to go out and grab what you want, but sometimes if you just wait, the best things will happen.

What have you been up to since high school?:
With the plan of pursuing a music career, I attended Central Missouri State University (82-83) then transferred to West Texas State University (83-850 in Canyon, TX. I left school and moved to St. Louis to study privately with several  percussionists from the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra at CASA. After a year, I traveled back to WTSU (86-88) to finish my Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance. I accepted a teaching assistant position at Southwest Texas State University (88-89), where I worked on a Masters of Music degree in Music Performance. I moved back to the panhandle of Texas, Amarillo to be specific, where I resided for several years, working as a professional musician, instructor at Amarillo College, and opened my own drum shop. In 1992 I closed my shop, put everything in storage, and toured the US with several Christian music groups ... which eventually led me to relocate to Chattanooga, TN. After several years in Tennessee, I moved to the Dallas / Fort Worth metroplex (Summer,1994) where I've been living ever since.

I met and married my wife Liesa in 1996, bought a home in North Dallas in 1997; my son was born in May of 2000.

As a free-lance drummer & percussionist in the Dallas area, I stay busy working as a studio musician for radio/tv/film, as well as custom album projects.

Words of  wisdom:

What have you been up to since high school?:
Went to UMR on the 5 year plan graduating in 1987.  It was that year that I met my wife (Rosanne Yancey RHS '84).  We married in July 1988.  Rosanne and I have 4 of the best kids imaginable.  Although it seems that we're constantly running to girl scouts, cubscouts, soccer, baseball, softball,....I wouldn't trade it for anything.  It helps also to have the most loving, helpful, ornery oops...sweetest, and understanding wife - life is definately more bearable with her.  Working at the USGS has sent me to many places in the USA, but I find none better than home in Rolla - it still is a good place to raise a family.
