Children & ages:
Joe  13, Jack 11, Peter 11
Occupation:
High School Learning Consultant/Counselor
Hobbies/Interests:
I am mainly interested in understanding the mysteries of the universe. Like, why people spend a fortune of bottled water when they can get it from a faucet for free. Why don't mimes talk.  Why can some animals talk in the movies, but not in real life. The whole tree falling in forest but if no one is there to hear it scenerio.  You can see the the strain on my time. Why is it acceptable for women to wear men's clothes, but wierd if a man wears womens clothes.  Some many dilemas.

In addition I enjoy golf, travelling, kamping(it is my last name), and coaching sports.
Favorite high school memories:
My favorite memories mainly include all of the social activites.   Huge gatherings where at least half the school showed up. Laughing, joking, dancing, and just hanging out.
What have you been up to since high school?:
After high school I managed to attended every UM system school with the exception of KC. I graduated from UMSL in 87 with a degree in Accounting and Finance.  Did the business thing for five years.  Boring! So, I went back to UMSL and received my M.Ed in special education. Got married and had three kids in there somewhere. I have spent the last seven years as a Learning Consultant at Saint Pius X High School in Festus Mo. (25 miles south of St. Louis) I work with students who have Learning Disabilities and ADD, and do a lot of counseling.  I coach girl's JV soccer and also coach my twins select soccer team.  We are all very invovled with our parish and it's various clubs.
Words of  wisdom:
Live everyday as if you are going to live forever.

As you get older, never trust a fart.

Name: Jim Kelsey
Spouse Name:
Megan
City: State:
Oakland, Ca
Children & ages:
Jonah Miles Kelsey, 9 months
Occupation:
Energy Engineer
Hobbies/Interests:
Since Jonah arrived I’m doing good just to keep up with life!  When I have a chance I still like to run, cycle, backpack and fly fish.  Since moving to California I’ve added sailing.
Favorite high school memories:
Rock-climbing with John R., Tim P., Jay S., Tim M., Mark W & Kevin B.  Hanging out at track and CC meets waiting for my events to come up.
What have you been up to since high school?:
After graduating from college I went into the Peace Corp for a couple of years.  Got to see a new government come to power under a coup while I was there and met some of the friendliest people on earth.  Came back to the U.S. and bummed around San Francisco for a while.  Starting hanging out with my wife-to-be Megan and decided to go to grad school. Went to University of Wisconsin and got a degree in Mechanical Engineering studying energy-related technologies.  Megan and I got married while there but came back to the California coast to do it (Kevin B and Nancy P were there). After grad school, Megan and I moved back to California where I’ve been working in energy efficiency ever since.  In 1998 a friend and I started our own energy efficiency consulting business, KW Engineering.  I’ve been working my butt off ever since.  Megan decided to go to grad school to get her degree in psychology.  She’s now 4 years into a 6-year program.  Last year we decided to (finally) have a family.  Jonah Miles (Jojo) was born last May.  He’s now the most important part of my life can’t believe now that we thought about just never having kids.  That’s it in a really tiny nutshell!
Words of  wisdom:
You’re kidding, right? Oh, all right.  Say “yes” to every invitation you get and as many opportunities as you can.  Assume the best about someone until proven otherwise.  Don’t give advice except when asked at least twice.
Anything else significant you would like to share: Weirdest small-world thing of all time:  My wife, Megan joined a mom’s group after having Jonah.  Guess who is in it? Laura (van Matre) Turnbull! Talk about small world.  Weirder yet her husband works in the same business I do and is a big fly fisher too.  We’ve had dinner with them and their son Jake several times since then.

State:

Children & ages:
Alex-5, Blaise-2
Occupation:
Director, IS&T at Novell
Hobbies/Interests:
Nothing's really changed:
Basketball, running, cooking (i.e. good food), wine (well, that one's new), our children (that's new too, I guess)
Favorite high school memories:
Let's see...
- of course, the killer girls basketball team and coach (John Edgar) that we had during these years
- lots of frat parties with Jeni Sparlin and Deni Legrand
- the incredible stories we told our parents about where we were vs. where we really were
- having a front-row seat to the escapades of Dawn Van Horn who remains a terrific best friend
- the ability to have an innocent crush on so many guys who never knew I existed or were just "good friends" (very well-kept secret)
- Summer softball at Ber Juan park and the silly games we played at the Rolla pool

What have you been up to since high school?:
Attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City, MO; played basketball there and graduated with a BSBA in Computer Information Systems.  Moved to St. Louis and spent time working at Southwestern Bell, serving as head women's basketball coach at Fontbonne College, making great professional and social friends and killing tons of time/having fun doing it.  Now's when it gets more interesting...  Attended our 10 year high school reunion and spent a really fun weekend with many of you.  I met a high school classmate that I didn't know, Tim Malisch, at the reunion.  We began dating (long-distance between Nashville and St. Louis) and finally married in June 1994 - what a surprise!  We spent our first 3 years together in Los Angeles where I tried Division I coaching as an assistant at Cal-State Northridge but for a variety of reasons I left and took a more "normal and boring" position in the IS department at UCLA.  I'm shooting for a coaching or officiating position as my retirement job some day for fun.  We moved to Chicago in 1997 where we currently reside and have two really cool, fun boys, Alex and Blaise, who require most of our attention outside of our careers at the moment.  We've discovered that winters in Chicago are very lonely - no one wants to visit us in the dead of winter here - and summers get quite busy!  (We had the opposite experience in LA and I'd love to get back to the warmer weather some day.)
So, I'm really looking forward to hearing some good "Tim Malisch" stories at the reunion since we didn't really know each other in high school.  Please share!
