Cross-country practice with the team and Coach Knapp, running around Rolla with the team, Chubb & Joes after Saturday morning practice, football and basketball games on Friday nights.  All the great RHS friends and teachers!
What have you been up to since high school?:
After RHS, I went to UMR and got a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering Management.  I married Pam in 1987 and received an officer's commission in the Air Force.  We went to Ft Rucker, Alabama where I trained to become a helicopter rescue pilot and were subsequently stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base, MO, Germany, Italy, New Mexico, Japan, Korea, and Saudi Arabia.  Along the way we had 4 children and decided it was time for me to stay home and see them grow up.  So in 1997, I moved from the active duty Air Force to the Reserves.  I was interested in financial services, so I accepted a management position with Farmers Insurance in Dallas.  Two years ago, I was offered a position in the Kansas City area, so Pam & I decided to move back closer to home and family.

Name: Jay Shelton
Spouse Name:
Dee Dee
City:
Jefferson City
State:
Mo
Children & ages:
Katie - 7-15-91, Ross - 8-1-95
Occupation:
Physician (anesthesiologist)
Hobbies/Interests:
Golf, carpentry, fishing, hunting, skiing, coaching my kids at anything (even soccer, though I still haven't figured out the rules yet) and doing everything that my lovely bride tells me to do.  I can fix almost anything around the house now because I have broken everything atleast once. I am also really getting into computers now.  I think this internet thing is really going to catch on.
Favorite high school memories:
My favorite memories could go on for a while and many are far too embarrassing to be retold.  Some of my favorites are the summer trip to Colorado with John R., Tim P., and Jim K.(Can you believe our parents let us do that).  Doing everything else with Tim M and Tim P.  Hanging out with the guys in College Hills... Chad S. Chris T. Dave H. Mark W..  Band trips (well, not really, I was a horrible trumpet player.  I was only in it for the chicks).  Hanging out with the real  studs like Paul and Big Ed (when they would let me).  Karl S. and I had a lot of good times, too...where is that guy anyway.
What have you been up to since high school?:
I went to college at Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO.  Truly the international hub of collegial good times.  I was a fairly underwhelming member of the student body, that is, until I neared graduation and realized that I might actually have to join the real world.  Mortified by that thought, I decided the safest place for me to be was in medical school.  So, I followed the example of some of my friends went to UMC School of Medicine.  I did, reluctantly, graduate from medical school and spent my first year as an intern in internal medicine.  I then elected to specialize in anesthesiology because my wife said that the only people who appreciate my sense of humor are unconscious.  I practiced for about 3 years in Cape Girardeau before we decided to move back to mid Missouri.  I have been in J.C. ever since. The constantly changing business of medicine keeps me very busy. Dee Dee stays at home with the kids and is every bit as busy as am I.  We travely quite a bit and will be away over the reunion in August.  We will miss seeing all of you guys.
Words of  wisdom:

Favorite high school memories:
First of all where should I start? Maybe my junior year was the smell that went straight to the brain. There was a senior that year that rode a motorcycle through the halls creating lots of spent gas fumes in the air, I inhaled. I suppose thats when the memories started to pile up like a thick cloud of smoke. The senior year produced lots and lots of laughs and great times.
Does anyone remember the peas and prunes, food fights, the old parking lot, surfing on flooded floors,a dead cow,a cat's head, naked maniquins, senior canoe trip,Jeffcity jays, parties and raising hell? All I should say about those things is I didn't have anything to do with em and I don't know who did.

What have you been up to since high school?:
I've lived and loved and I'm still doing both of em.
Words of  wisdom:

Name: Kevin Simmons
Spouse Name:
Janet
City: State:
Republic, Mo
Children & ages:
April Loraine-6, Colton William-4 and Hayden Davidson- born December 28, 2001
Occupation:
12 years in Law Enforcement
Hobbies/Interests:
My family and career are the centers of my universe but when I’m able, I love to spend as much time as possible on my Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Favorite high school memories:
Football, Football, Football, Cruising Kingshighway in the “Goat-Mobile” with Eddie, going to McDonald’s to “pick up chicks” (yea’ right), parties at KC Hall (or anywhere else) where you knew everyone, an occasional fist fight with Mush, the daily dirty joke from Coach Roberts and listening to “Saturday Morning Bluegrass with Ray Hicks” on KCLU right before football practice.
What have you been up to since high school?:
A short and very unsuccessful stint at UMR sent me into the United States Marine Corps. After the military, I returned to Missouri and settled in Springfield where I worked my way through SMSU as a bouncer and bartender. In 1990 I joined the Springfield Police Department and two years later joined the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. I worked as a beat cop for 8 years until I was promoted to Detective and assigned to the Narcotics Division. In 1993 I married my wife, and we have 3 beautiful children.  We love to ride our motorcycle with a group of other Harley riding Cops and their spouses. Since late 1999, I have been employed with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as a Federal Task Force Agent. Being a Federal Officer has given me the opportunity to travel all over the country and experience the type of Law Enforcement experiences you usually only read about. I love being a cop.
Words of wisdon:
I don’t remember where I heard it but some one once said;” Life steadily becomes more precious when there is less and less of it to waste”.
Anything else significant you would like to share: The years spent at Rolla High were some of the best in my life. My friends from those days are still the most important that I have. Though I loved my life back then, I wouldn’t go back even if I could. My wife and children have given more joy than I could have ever hoped for and I love my chosen profession. I did a lot of stupid things early in my life and I don’t know what exactly it was I did right but God definitely blessed me when he gave me all that I have today. At 18, I genuinely thought that my life was over after graduation, but I found that being an adult is a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

My dad grounded Claudia for going to a party at "THE PIT". (We weren't even there together) He pulled up, told her to get in the car with me and go home. We went to my house and proceeded to get an hour long lecture, in which, he grounded all of us, including Claudia. She was just sitting there so politely saying, "yes sir, yes sir, how long are we grounded sir", while I read the news paper. To this day, I'm not sure if she carried out the sentence at her house,  mine was revoked the next day.

Be careful Claud- you're staying at my parents house reunion weekend, R.L. may still be as strict!

Susan, the cabin, 8-M.P.,Mason Ridge, too many great times to mention, even if I could break my oath of secrecy.

None....But there's my super studio dog Coda! She's four years old and is even potty trained!!
Occupation:
musician-producer-writer-arranger
Hobbies/Interests:
Takin' trips across the lovely USA on my bad motor scooter!! My new husband and I love to travel. He's taken me places I've only dreamed of! If you ever get the chance to go abroad., DO IT! Don't be afraid, just go. Your eyes will be opened like never before people!

That, and performing pretty much covers it all.
Favorite high school memories:
Ya know, there's not a whole lotta really GOOD memories for me I'm sad to say. Mostly I remember being mercilessly teased...either for being fat or just the person of the year to pick on. I'm embarassed to say, that I still can remember who did and said what! (Can you say phyc counciling?!Ha! )
What have you been up to since high school?:
Well let's see....hmmm..There were the first years after I took off from Rolla in '81/'82. Spent those few years blissfully unaware of what dangers were lurking in the big city for a seventeen year old girl. But , as it turned out, my first few  years in Kansas City were a great learning experience for me.

PLayed keyboards and sang in tons of clubs, did studio gigs for lotsa no name people, and basically emursed myself in the black culture for about four years.

Then there are the lost years... from '87 to around '90 I got sick with Rock-n-Roll desease. I credit my folks for saving my life, and have been trying to make it up to them ever since!

My gigs have taken me all over the US. Miami to L.A. I'm currently shopping my new Cd " Sweet ,Long ,Cool Drink'a Water" ( On Lunacy Records, check out www.lunacyrecords.com  , or www.jenniferlaneonline.com )

By the way, I perform under the name JENNIFER LANE. My Mom used to call us by both given names when me and my sisters got in trouble. Seein as I was in trouble ALOT, I got used to answering to it! Except it never came out as Jennifer Elaine when she yelled it, only the lane of Elaine came out!

Words of  wisdom:
Tell your sons and daughters not to tease and bully thier fellow students. The pain it inflicks can last a lifetime.

Spouse Name:
Naomi

State:
Children & ages:
William Steven Sullivan (sweet)16, Jiro Mitchell Sullivan 12 (going on 25)
Occupation:
US Army (Special Forces)
Hobbies/Interests:
Waiting for the fall to watch the NFL!
Favorite high school memories:
All the parties! (that I remember)  Probably every single play that happen on the football field.  And well just hanging in the RHS hallways with good old friends!
What have you been up to since high school?:
After (thankfully) graduating RHS, I moved to California for a couple of years.  During this time I married Naomi Bracy.  I then joined the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Bragg NC. (85-88) After a couple of years at Bragg my unit move to Ft. Campbell KY.  During my 4 year stay with Special Forces Support at Campbell, I decided to make the move and become Special Forces Qualified.  In 1993 I attended Special Forces training (SF) at Ft. Bragg.  After completing the course I was awarded 18E Special Forces Communications. (1994) I have served 16 years with SF and I have enjoyed every minute.  In 1990-91 I served in Desert Shield/Storm.(many stories) I have been everywhere, done everything and have worn the tee-shirt out! (to make a long story short)
*Now to the interesting part*  In March 2001 I was in Kuwait for a training exercise.  On that night we were calling in Aircraft to drop bombs on (enemy) targets.  Well, for some odd reason the pilot decided to drop his bombs on our position.  5 Americans were killed and a New Zealand officer.  A member of my team was killed and a couple of other members received some serious wounds.  I myself lost my left leg (above knee) and received a serious blast to my right shoulder resulting in the loss of 2/3 of my shoulder blade.(scapula for you docs) I now have a peg leg and a metal shoulder blade.  I have recovered 100% and thank everyone for your prayers.  I am now pending a medical board and hopefully in the near future retire from the Army.  All in all I am doing fine.  The best thing, is now I get to park up front.  :)

Words of  wisdom:
Just because you walk with a limp doesn't mean you are a pimp!
Anything else significant you would like to share:
Nothing significant to share other than, I have a lot of SF friends overseas.  Please keep them and their families in your prayers!  They serve to keep our FREEDOM!
